Transmission

Ah... The gearbox!  The Achilles' heel of the TR6.  This was solved quite nicely...

Along with the L32 came the world class Borg & Warner/Tremec T5 gearbox.  Its a fully synchronized five speed unit, with a hydraulic activated clutch.

After purchase of the engine, the transmission was separated from the engine block and the pressure plate and clutch were replaced using GM Performance Parts components.  The throwout bearing was replaced and this one is indeed stout!

The clutch master cylinder is a one-piece unit.  The piston has a sealed line attached to the reservoir.  There is a second line that feeds the clutch fork actuator.  This setup required a bit of work though.  The firewall on the Camaro is far from vertical, and the master cylinder piston comes with an angled flange to match the angle on the firewall.  This proved to be a problem on the TR6.  So, a custom adaptor was made from aluminium to hold the cylinder.  Once this was figured out, things work just as they do in the Camaro.  This was all designed in such a way that the original TR6 pedal box remains in place.

A B&M Ripper Shifter short throw shift adaptor was installed.  This enables much quicker shifts, due to a different location of the fulcrum point.  The stick is a custom fabricated and bent stainless steel rod, capped off by a hand turned solid brass shifter knob.  The rod had to be altered a few times to get the right length and 'curve'.  Making shifts with these modifications is effortless and can be made very fast.
