Seats
The 1972 vintage seats are in my
opinion, the best looking. They have the high back, single
piece design. They are also quite comfy and when properly
restored give the car a special 'look'.
The TR6 came with these type
seats but they were in deplorable condition. The foam was
worn, and the skins were very brittle.
The seats were take completely
apart in order to restore them. The old skins were removed
as well as what was left of the foam. What was left were
seat skins in need of some sandblasting and paint. The
seat rails were also in need of some attention and they too were
sandblasted. New fresh black paint was sprayed on the
frames and the reails
New seat skins were ordered along
with new foam cushions, all made in the UK. The lower seat
diaphragms were also replaced. Finally, the new components
were installed and the results could not be better. The
seats are very comfortable and are as good as they were when
they left the factory.
