Rubber Seals

I debated about writing an entire section on rubber seals.  However, they are a vital component in the proper restoration of a TR6.  Much to my surprise these critters are readily available, but finding good quality seals is another story.  Hopefully, by writing this page this information can help you if you are in the process of restoring this component.

Bonnet Seals

There are two seals under the bonnet.  The one next to the grille and the one next to the windshield.  I ordered these seals from all three major suppliers, with the ones from Moss being the best fitting.

Trunk Seal

The seal in the trunk area was also difficult to find.  Examples from all three suppliers were purchased, again Moss offered the best example.  The one from TRF was simply awful.

Fuzzy Seal

I purchased the 'fuzzy seal' from TRF thinking that price was going to make the difference.  They advertise it as being the best and label it as 'premium'.  Once again, TRF provided a seal of dismal quality.

The best seal came from MacGregor in Canada.  The gentleman that runs this place is very patient and also very knowledgeable.  There are two basic designs for the fuzzy seal, depending upon the year of TR6 you own.  I ended up using the 'later model' version simply because it offered the best fit.  I highly recommend this source for fuzzy seal.

From MacGregor also came the rubber seal that fits on the outside of the windshield frame.  This is the seal that fits between the windshield frame and the door glass.

Windshield Seal

This is the seal that holds the windshield in place.  This seal came from Victoria British.  They had the best fitting from all three.  In addition, the entire inside trim for the windshield frame came from them.
